Starladder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor: BOOM ID punch their way into their second Minor of the season

The boys from Indonesia came through once again, as BOOM ID edged out Lotac in the finals of the SEA Regionals, for the Starladder Minor.

Dendi and Tigers still struggling

1437’s Tigers squad, which features high profile names such as TI winner Dendi and 2 time Major champion, Moonmeander, struggled to put in the performance expected of them. The squad won the first Minor qualifier of the season, and eventually went on to win the entire tournament but a couple of roster shuffles since then has failed to elevate them to the same form.

The Tigers, first lost 2-0 to Lotac in the upper bracket and were then eliminated at the hands of DeToNator in the lower bracket, marking an end to a rocky journey.

Raven switches to support and has an immediate impact for Lotac

Raven and Skem switched roles, as Skem moved into the carry position, a move which had almost immediate impact for the Lotac team. In their upper bracket match against Tigers, Skem looked incredibly comfortable on PA and TB and was able to carry his team into the upper bracket finals quite comfortably. While BOOM ID got the better of them on 2 separate occasions, Lotac’s win over DTN was also largely inspired by both Raven and Skem, who helped their side come back from a game down to take the series 2-1.

BOOM ID qualify without dropping a single game

But the real story of the qualifiers was BOOM ID, who blazed their way into the LAN, going unbeaten across the entire qualifiers. The Indonesians swatted aside DeToNator in their first series, taking the series in just over an hour. Fervian/Dreamocel is shaping up to be one of the top carries in SEA and he put in another massive performance against Lotac in the upper bracket finals, as once again BOOM ID took the series 2-0. The grand finals was no different, as Fervian’s Lifestealer ran unchecked, netting his team another convincing 2-0 win. They seem to have a good understanding of the meta and the drafts, as well as each other and all their wins, came around the 30-minute mark.

But whether the Indonesians will be able to replicate this form in Kiev remains to be answered. Their Minor outing at Bucharest was not the best as they finished in the very bottom after what can only be described as a comical error of epic proportions. Hopefully, the side has learned from their past and are will be able to show their true power at Kiev.
