In one of the most competitive days in the SEA regional circuit this season of the DPC, BOOM ID emerged on top, to the surprise of many, with a 3-1 record in the round-robin Group Stage of the Epicenter Major 2019 - SEA Qualifiers.
Fnatic, TNC Predator and Geek Fam are also firmly in control of their own destinies, having only dropped a solitary match each.
BOOM ID kicked off the day with a big win over Geek Fam. However, in the very next game, they’d end up conceding a game to TNC Predator bringing down their score to 1-1. They’d round out the day with two relatively straight forward wins over Power of MYSG+AU and WG.Unity to climb the table and claim the top spot with a 3-1 record.
On the other hand, Geek Fam who started off the day with a loss to BOOM ID, recovered securing a win against WG.Unity before clashing against TNC Predator. In a long and hard-fought series, Geek Fam came out on top with a spectacular performance by Raven on his Terrorblade closing the day with a 2-1 record.
TNC Predator had a hell of a start to the day, beating WG.Unity and BOOM ID in two stomps. However, they came up against a brick wall which was Geek Fam and hence closed the day with a 2-1 record.
The two teams who qualified for the Disneyland Major have underperformed on Day 1 of the Epicenter Major - SEA Qualifiers.
Fnatic, who’ve topped the SEA Qualifiers in every single Major and have held the spot of being the number 1 SEA team, across the year shockingly dropped a game against Power of MYSG+AU and sit with a 2-1 record. While they can certainly recover from this position, they have quite a difficult run tomorrow as they’ll have to face BOOM ID, Geek Fam and TNC Predator and emerge on top to guarantee their place at the top of the table.
Mineski, on the other hand, are on the brink of not qualifying for the playoffs after successive losses to Fnatic and EVOS Esports. They’ll need to step up their performance by a large margin, for a shot at qualifying for the Major.
Tune in tomorrow at 07:30 AM IST | 10:00 AM SGT when the action in the SEA Qualifiers resumes.
