6 upcoming Indian esports tournaments to watch this October

Saying that the Indian esports calendar is jam-packed with action throughout the month of October might just be an understatement. Be it in CS:GO or DOTA 2, there are several teams poised to establish themselves as the next top dog on the scene. And with a packed esports event calendar this October, teams will have no shortage of opportunities to do so.

Here are the top events and tournaments which fans of Indian esports ought not to miss over the course of the next month.

While it is technically in the month of September, Indian Dota 2 fans can look forward to the upcoming ROG Onslaught tournament, where 4 top class teams will be competing with each other all the way down south at Phoenix Market City, Chennai - one of the busiest malls in the city. The tournament is a part of the Phoenix Gaming Expo which also features several other activities like a PUBG Mobile tournament, a FIFA 19 tournament and a cosplay competition amongst many other.

Officially, the tournament has already begun with the online phase kicking off on September 17. The LAN event will take place soon after, running from 28 September 2018 - 30 September 2018.

Dew Arena‘s production value has always been quite amazing. They are really one of the few tournaments that manage to push the boundaries every year. The Dew Arena 2.0 was hosted in an arena unlike what we've seen in Indian esports before. Dew Arena 2.0 was the first ever Indian esports tournament to be broadcast live on television.

It will be quite exciting to see how far Mountain Dew India pushes their boundaries in the upcoming Dew Arena LAN which features teams like ROG Titans, LXG Esports, and Team Reckoning for Dota 2 as well as 2ez Gaming, Brutality, Entity Gaming, and ATE Gaming for CS:GO

PVP Esports Championships

While this is technically not an Indian esports event, it is one of those rare events that did feature an Indian Qualifier and guarantees the victors a trip abroad to compete at the $300,000 main event.

It is a chance for an Indian Dota 2 team to test their mettle against some of the best teams in the world. Will Signify be able to buck the trend of Indian teams under-performing at International LANs? We’ll find out this October.

ESL India Premiership 2018 - Fall Season Finale

  • Games Featured: Dota 2, CS:GO
  • Prizepool: INR 20 Lakhs
  • Location: Hitex Exhibition Center, Hyderabad
  • Dates: October 13th to 14th
  • More Details: Click HERE

The ESL India Premiership 2018 was by far the biggest esports event that we witnessed in Hyderabad last year. Featuring some high intensity Dota2/CS:GO in addition to a humongous prize pool and a great crowd, last year’s main event was one to remember.

This year we’ll see returning champions Signify come back to the Hitex Exhibition Center alongside newer faces like ROG Titans, Reckoning Esports and perhaps even Filipino team Alpha Gaming which should provide some interesting matches in the LAN setting.

On the CS:GO side, OpTic India will make their way to the LAN in a bid to claim their first ESL India LAN championship after an undefeated run in the online phase of the Master League. But it won’t be an easy road to the title considering the fact that teams like Brutality and two other top tier CS:GO teams will be standing in their way.

Taiwan Excellence Gaming Cup 2018

  • Games Featured: Dota 2, CS:GO
  • Prizepool: INR 10 Lakhs
  • Location: Mumbai
  • Dates: October 19th to 20th

After the big tournament in Hyderabad, the excitement continues in Mumbai from 19 - 20 October, as the next Dota2+CS:GO tournament takes place. Here, eight of the best squads in India from each game will meet to compete for the INR 10 Lakh prizepool.

The playoffs have kicked off a total of 32 teams from Dota 2 and CS:GO will compete for 16 spots in the LAN finale where their skills will truly be put to the test. The finale will most likely take place, dab smack in the middle of one of Mumbai’s busiest shopping malls with plenty of contests including cosplay, as well as dedicated viewing areas, live-production, etc.

eXTREMESLAND ZOWIE Asia CS:GO 2018

  • Games Featured: CS:GO
  • Prizepool: $100,000
  • Location: Shanghai, China.
  • Dates: October 18th to 21st
  • More Details: Click HERE

This event isn't technically Indian as well, but it did feature an Indian Qualifier and the victors of the Indian Qualifier, OpTic India will be making a trip abroad to compete at the $300,000 main event held in Shanghai, China.

It is a chance for an Indian CS:GO team to test their mettle against some of the best teams in the world. Last season, we saw Entity Gaming take down Mineski in the eXTREMESLAND ZOWIE Asia CS:GO 2017 - LAN Event. Can OpTic India replicate that run? Or perhaps surpass it? We’ll find out this October
